It was a sad night for us Georgia Bulldog fans this past Monday. We were doing pretty well. We weren’t scoring touchdowns right away, but we were on the scoreboard, and Alabama wasn’t…yet.
I began watching the Bulldogs last year, during Kirby Smart’s first year as the University of Georgia football coach. Jacob Eason was our Quarterback, and though we didn’t have great luck last year, this year, the team took us all the way to the Championship game! I was saddened when Eason was hurt during the first game of this season, as we were all rooting for him, but Eason and Fromm have more than proved their commitment to each other, and their team. Sometimes, two can lead just as well as one.
When we came back from the half-time show, I felt pretty confident we would remain ahead. Even after Alabama finally scored, and then scored again, I didn’t think to be worried. When they caught up, I worried. I sat on the edge of my seat. I stood up and paced back and forth in the kitchen, still watching, hoping for a comeback from Georgia, but the only chance we had was in the kick Blankenship did that gave us a three point lead in overtime. Not a chance. Out of nowhere because I certainly didn’t see it coming, a touchdown was thrown, caught somewhere around the 10-yard line, and ran in for Alabama’s winning touchdown.
I wanted to cry, but I didn’t. Yes, we lost, but we made it all the way to the Championship game. Awesome job guys! That makes us #2 in college football!
There’s always next year.
